Please note that this school closes on Friday, 28th. June at 12 noon for summer holidays and will re-open on Thursday, 29th. August at 9.10a.m. I would like to thank you for your help, support and co-operation during the school year. It is very much appreciated by all the staff and me. It has been a wonderful year in which we have showcased our school in the following: · We had a very successful Christmas Concert “Peter Pan”. Pupils in all classes took part. · School Wardens got their Certificates and medals for competing in the competition. · Sixth Class organised a very successful Jumble Sale and raised money for Crumlin Hospital. · Second & Third Class did some fundraising for the charity “Children Helping Children”. · Pupils took part in the School’s Cross Country. · Second Class girls received the sacrament of Holy Communion · Fifth & Sixth Class received the sacrament of Confirmation. · Pupils in First Class Room 11 brought caterpillars into the classroom in September & watched them change into cocoons in October. They released 6 butterflies into the school garden in April. All our pupils enjoyed the visits paid to our school from: · Mr. Ziglinzki – visiting scientist who carried out scientific workshops. · Jenny McDonald – organic gardener, who planted many organic fruits and vegetables. · Many parents came to the school to help with the following: 1. cookery classes with the children from Junior Infants and First Classes. 2. paired reading with Second Class Room 10. 3. paired reading with Sixth Class Room 9. 4. Homework Club. · Cycling Pursuits – who provided a cycling skills day. · Katie Upton –drama classes every Friday with all classes. · Parents’ Council – organised a very successful Art Competition for all classes. · Whizz Kids – Computer classes with pupils from 3rd.-6th. classes in the school hall. · Schools Completion Personnel – Transition Programme with 6th. Class. · Infant classes visited the Fire Station, Deel Bakery & other shops in the town. They also went for a river walk. · Pupils took part in the Bike Week. · Under the guidance of Mrs. McMahon in 6th. Class, 19 eggs were placed in an incubator and 19 chicks hatched within one month. · Junior School Tour took place at Delta Adventure City, Limerick. · Senior School Tour took place at Let’s Go Summer School, Delta. · League of Legends Soccer. · Great fun was had by all pupils on Sports Day. In the school we have a strong involvement in the following: · Book Club * Book Rental Scheme * Swimming Lessons * Music Lessons, etc. After School Programmes: · Homework Club * Art Classes * Speech & Drama * etc. We also had the following classes for parents – · Cookery * Irish and * Zumba We would like to thank the facilitators and all who participated. We will continue with these classes next year. Every classroom is equipped with an Interactive Whiteboard and internet access. We would like to thank the First Holy Communion children who made donations to various charities and to all the pupils who made our Jumble Sale a success. Congratulations to all our pupils who worked so hard. And finally we take this opportunity to bid a fond farewell to our 1st class boys and 6th class girls whom we wish every success to in the future and look forward to the arrival of our new Junior Infants.
