Dear Parents,
Thank you for sending in the clothes for the musical. The school musical “Oliver” will be on during the last week before the Easter holidays. Dates to be confirmed. Just a reminder on the plan for homework. · On Mondays I will give you a note in the homework folder with the homework for the week. It will also let you know some of the things we are doing in class. Homework will usually tie into what we are doing in class that week. · I will give out 2 readers per week. Please read the story together on both nights, and then fill out the reading log on the second night. The reading log can be kept in the homework folder. · Word Wallet activities. 1. Match the red card to its place on the white card. (Place the red Jasmine on top of the white Jasmine) 2. Say the word. 3. Ask the children for a sentence with that word in it. (Jasmine has a blue dress) If a word/sound gets lost just make a new one. These activities will change throughout the year.
Aistear We are now introducing some aspects of the Aistear curriculum to the classroom. The children will be given time to creatively play using a given theme. Our first theme is the “The Building Site”. If you have some items at home that would help us play please send them in. We will return them in a few weeks when we move on to another theme. Please do not buy anything new. Old toy tools or clothes would be perfect. If you have any questions please ask. Please see the information sheet on Aistear in the homework folder.
This week we will be continuing to learn how to read the names of the children in the class, learn about the story of 7 (Ways to make 7 e.g. 0+7=7, 1+6=7 etc) and talk about the 8 planets and Pluto! Thanks Mr Gleeson
Jolly Phonics – section of the 42 sounds in order with a sample word.
Jolly Phonics Activities – for each sound up to “oo” – as in moon 1. Children make the sound and show you the action. (e.g. a, a, a ants on my arm) 2. Ask the children for a word or words starting or containing that sound. (ant, apple, Alice, etc)

Reminders PE Our PE days are Mondays and Thursdays so children can wear their tracksuits on those days. Lunches Children are now getting the school lunch. If they don’t eat something I will send that home so you will know. If you want to change your child’s lunch order then drop me a note in the homework folder. You can view your child’s current lunch order on our class website. It’s the link on the left hand side called “School Lunches”. Questions If there are any questions please ask. If you can’t make it into the school my email is vincent.gleeson@stannesps.ie for any questions. I usually check that every day. |
