Room 10 Announcements
Homework Week 34
Dear Parents, The children were moved around in the classroom last week and now have a new table and a new shape (and jobs). We may have the school sports day someday soon. That will be weather dependent and will probably be organised at short notice. Our Aistear theme is The Bank. We are talking about spending and saving. This week we will be learning more words from our final reader “Stop That Dog” (Purple Book 6) and the children will be learning about mass and weight. We will continue hurling on PE days (Mondays and Thursdays). Any child that has a Hurley or Helmet can bring them in. I have spare hurleys and helmets for everyone. Thanks Mr Gleeson
Reminders Homework On Mondays I will give you a note in the homework folder with the homework for the week. It will also let you know some of the things we are doing in class. Homework will usually tie into what we are doing in class that week. Readers Please read the story together and then fill out the reading log. The reading log can be kept in the homework folder. Aistear The children will be given time to creatively play using a given theme. If you have some items at home that would help us play please send them in. We will return them in a few weeks when we move on to another theme. PE Our PE days are Mondays and Thursdays so children can wear their tracksuits on those days. Bring your Hurley and Helmet!! Lunches If children don’t eat something I will send that home so you will know. If you want to change your child’s lunch order then drop me a note in the homework folder. You can view your child’s current lunch order on our class website. It’s the link on the left hand side called “School Lunches”. Don’t forget to check items for nuts or traces of nuts. Questions If there are any questions please ask. If you can’t make it into the school my email is vincent.gleeson@stannesps.ie for any questions. I usually check that every day.

Word Wallet. Each child will get their own word wallet. We will be using these throughout the year. In the wallet is a coloured and white card. Coloured Card = New words As we learn the words we will cut them out of the coloured card in class. The white cards are for matching and not are to be cut. The children can “match” by placing coloured cards on top of the white card. These short activities should be done every day for homework. (4 times a week) Word Wallet activities. 1. Match the coloured card to its place on the white card. (Place the kicking on top of the white kicking) 2. Say the word. 3. Ask the children for a sentence with that word in it. (Max is kicking the ball) If a word/sound gets lost just make a new one. These activities will change throughout the year.
