Dear Parents,
Thank you for sending in the green items and the games on Friday. This week we will be learning the days of the week and about the colour purple. Just a few notes. PE Our PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays so children can wear their tracksuits on those days. Lunches Children are now getting the school lunch. If they don’t eat something I will send that home so you will know. If you want to change your child’s lunch order then drop me a note in the homework folder. You can view your child’s current lunch order on our class website. It’s the link on the left hand side called “School Lunches”. We have a Healthy Eating policy in the school and you will get a copy this week. Word Wallet. Each child will get their own word wallet. We will be using these throughout the year. In the wallet is a yellow and green card. These have matching white cards. Green Card = 42 Jolly Phonics sounds Yellow Card = Sight words from the reader “Look out Teddy!” As we learn the sounds and words we will cut them out of the yellow and green cards in class. The white cards are for matching and not are to be cut. The children can “match” by placing coloured cards on top of the white card. We have covered 5 Jolly Phonics sounds and 4 sight words so far. So these should be cut out already. These short activities should be done every day for homework. (4 times a week)
Word Wallet activities. Jolly Phonics – for each sound 1. Match the green card to its place on the white card. (Place the green a on top of the white a) 2. Children make the sound and show you the action. (e.g. a, a, a ants on my arm) 3. Ask the children for a word or words starting with that sound. (ant, apple, Alice, etc) Sight Word activities. 1. Match the yellow card to its place on the white card. (Place the yellow Kitty on top of the white Kitty) 2. Say the word. 3. Ask the children for a sentence or sentence with that word in it. (Kitty has Teddy)
If a word/sound gets lost just make a new one. These activities will change throughout the year.
