Dear Parents, I hope you are well. We had a test last week on the Tricky words (Orange) in the word wallet. Please sign the test page and return in the homework folder. We will continue to read “The big Horse” reader. Our words for this week and next will be the names of the children in our class. To help with our Irish please ensure the children wear their badge to school every day. The Ar Scoil (At school) words we are learning are cathaoir, crián bán, mála scoile, crián dubh, bosca lóin, pancóga, bord agus leabhar. Point to a picture and say Cad é seo? They will answer Is _____ é. Cad é seo? Is leabhar é. The 42 Jolly Phonics sounds on the next page. If your child knows a sound please ask them to give you a word or two with that sound. The words do not always start with that sound. I’ve added some words to help you with this on the next page. I will endeavour to have the children out just after 1.50 each day. Thanks Mr. Gleeson

Word Wallet Activities.
1. You can ask your child to read and spell the words to you.
2. Make up sentences for your child to read.
3. Ask your child for another word that has that sound.
If your child has difficulties with the word ask them to sound it out. Eg Kitty K-i-t-t-y or has h-a-s. This skill of sounding out or attacking a word will help with many new words in the future.
