The present school was built in 1959. It replaced an older structure. The sisters of mercy had come to the town in 1850 and had been to the fore in education provision in the parish. The first principal was Sr Peter.

School Re-opens for pupils on: Wednesday 27th August 2025 at 9.10 a.m.
October/November 2025
Mid-Term Break: School closed Monday 27th October – Friday 31st October 2025 (inclusive)
Christmas Holidays: Closing on Friday 19th December 2025 at 12pm.
Second Term:
January 2026
School Re-opening: Monday 5th January 2026 at 9.10a.m.
February 2026
Bank Holiday: School closed on Monday 2nd February 2026
Mid-Term Break: School closed Thursday 19th and Friday 20th February (inclusive unless changes are required as part of contingency arrangements to make up for lost time dues to unforeseen closures)
